How long, how long Lord must it go on? Somewhere there is a ball either being kicked, thrown or hit and every minute it is being filmed by the BBC/ITV for our amusement. Football continues apace somewhere or other, in New Zealand there is Rugby and Cricket. Although Ascot is finished, it has been swiftly followed with nary a gasp of breath to Tennis with much soul searching of the wiil we ,won't we brigade followed by the inevitable weather predictions for the next 14 days.

Anyone for Cribbage?

I can't understand people moaning about sport, just turn it over.

Its easy

I watch Sky, but it beggars belief that both BBC/ITV assume that the majority of the country want to watch wall-to-wall sport day in and day out. . There are many thousands of people who pay for a TV Licence but can't afford any other system to watch an alternative.
Read a book, go out, go online - can't really say the sport bothers me, and I hate sport.
Maybe people prefer the reality of sport, opposed to the mind-numbing mediocrity of soaps seven days a week or 'reality' shows like Big Brother/I'm NOT A Celebrity etc.......
It`s the same stuff on terestrial tv day in day out anyway. i feel sorry for people who can not go out & about. A lot of elderly people only get 4 channels. xxx
Why don't they broadcast sport on the BBC3 or 4 & ITV2 or 3 channels?

Then eveyone should be happpy.

I agree. I can't see - apart from the economic perspective - why they can't have a dedicated sports channel.

I live in a football consumed area where even rugby doesn't get a look in - in the words of one enlighted individual when I asked if he watched rugby, the reply was "it's for ********" .

The basis of my point of view/question is that TV is for everyone not just a few. There are those who because of financial constraints can't afford any other system, or because of physical disabilities cannot stride off into the countryside for an invigorating walk.

But I guess it all comes down to the dirty word economics. and the ratings.

Thought for the day. I wonder if all the so-called commentators could do another job?
