Is the woman who is married to the policeman Sam's sister? Did they mention who the father of Sam's son was? (I missed a couple of minutes.)

I dont think she is Sam's sister and I'm pretty sure they never mentioned anything to do with the father or her pregnancy etc. But now you have me thinking, did I miss something

She looks a bit like Sam's sister from what I remember of her. I certainly didn't expect the ending. For a programme that is so gruesome, this simple accident was surprisingly shocking.
