I noticed from the obituaries that Clive also starred in Space;1999.
I've been a fan of the series for many years, but I can't recall seeing him in a single episode.
Everywhere I look on the Internet, it mentions he starred in Space:1999 but gives no further details.
Does anyone know the character he played in the series please?
Many thanks

There are many others too. I'm afraid IMDB is far from infallible.

marwel17, I would suggest that the difference between "starred" and "appeared" in this instance is academic; he was a character in the series even if he only appeared in one episode.
Having been a fan of the series in my younger years, I'm aware that he did not have a leading role in the episodes. I've also checked an episode guide and not found him listed as a guest star.
Given the limited number of actors in the series, I would have thought that he would have been listed in the closing credits if only in the part of a minor character on Moonbase or elsewhere. After all, I can't think of a single person in the series that didn't have a name disclosed at some point or other no doubt due to the limited number of actors that appeared. In addition, the actors union EQUITY would not have been happy if his name had not been disclosed
At the end of the day, I can't understand why the part he played should not be disclosed yet none of the obituaries mention it. it's all very odd.

Which supports my contention that he was probably a background artiste. And I think there is an importabt distinction between appeared in and starred in even though the media has devalued the word star with regards to soaps where everyone who appears near soap is a star of that soap.If you look at his 3 credits on IMDb one of them is as an extra.I dont think equity requires the thst extras get a credit.
I echo the distinction between "starred" and "appeared" as being very relevant. There would be many people who appeared in Space: 1999 as background (i.e. an extra), pushing buttons on consoles or walking around, who would not receive a character credit precisely because they were not playing a "character".
It appears that Clive Hornby did not receive his first TV character credit until 1979(?); his appearances during the mid-70s (Space:1999, Get Some In!, etc.) lack character credits. Perhaps this suggests that before 1979 he was no more than an extra in any of his TV "roles".
