What was the name of the programme??

Can anyone remember the name of this program?
We think this was a series in the 80's and it starts with an alien hiding in a surbarban American garden, who then meets a woman. One things leads to another and baby is born. It is then ongoing saga of the child and the family. Ends with young girl with piercing blue eyes who eventually goes back to where her ancestors came from in a space ship.
Please help it is driving us mad!!!!!

Sounds a bit like Steven Spielbergs "Taken" the story spans several decades and tells the story of several families interconnected by the theme of alien abduction, from the side of the abductees and a military family who persue them. Isf you've got Sky keep a check on the Sci-Fi channel it is repeated every now and then

It's Taken, however it was from the late 90's rather than the 80's.
