return of the king 4 disc dvd

the previous 2 films had special extended 4 disc versions and that was the plan for this film as I remember Ian McKellen talking about it on Jonathan Ross.I even remember seeing it available for pre-order on some websites but now nothing it seems to have disappeared. anyone know why ? i was looking forward to this to complete my collection. thx for any help

it keeps being pushed back. Its December at the moment. A friend who has seen all the films lots of times, bought all the uk releases of the DVDs so far and quite a lot of other merchandise is telling me the 20th.

I'm a bit worried that you read a lot about PJ working on "Kong", but not on the EE :-(. Still, he's done us proud so far. I see what you mean about the set not being on many sites, though I did find it listed as December on a couple of (R1) sites. The One Ring site says that a release date is due to be fixed in the next 2 to 3 weeks. They did have some lovely pictures of the set and it's sculpture, but I can't find it now.

Yep, it's definitely looking at end of Nov/beginning of Dec. But there's now talk of an EE DVD boxset of all 3 films! But PJ has stated that he won't release it unless it has extra footage like a blooper real etc, otherwsie he would be ripping us off. From my understanding, he won't be putting it together until shooting on King Kong has wrapped.
