I only enjoy the disastrous ones too. I suppose it's car crash TV in a way, but these people really do set themselves up for a fall. Letting no-hopers through for viewer entertainment, like some Victorian freak show, is a bit cruel though, isn't it? It only adds to their already deluded opinions of their...erm..."talents". I don't think I'm a good singer - better than some of the ones they have on there though - but I know my limits and I know that I wouldn't have a hope in heck of winning, so I don't set myself up for a fall by trying.
What was with that holiday camp singer with a mouth like Wookey Hole? She honestly thought she was good. She might be better if she could rein that gob in when singing (both songs and her own praises), but she was trying way too hard - a lack of confidence in her natural style, perhaps.
As for Alan (I'm a bloke so can see past the "eye candy" stuff), he spent half an hour giving them his sob story, then had the nerve to say "I don't want you to feel sorry for me". Er, clearly you do, sunshine, otherwise you wouldn't have bleated on about it for so long.
