"I have come to the conclusion that executions solve nothing, and are only an antiquated relic of a primitive desire for revenge which takes the easy way and hands over the responsibility for revenge to other people...The trouble with the death penalty has always been that nobody wanted it for everybody, but everybody differed about who should get off."
Crime didn't pay for him, when he resigned from his hangman's job because of a dispute over pay.

Irrespective of the arguments for and against capital punishment, I think that what Pierrepoint did accomplish was to dispatch someone lawfully, with dignity and with his hands, expertly.
No botched jobs, all quick and certain.
Personally I favour CP for murderers who have been found guilty and satisfied enough people of that guilt over a period of time. eg.Brady, Huntley or Chinamo.

Everyone found guilty must have satisfied the jury BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT.I hear people say hang the ones who definitely did it, to them you can cite Stephan Kisko he would have been a customer for Albert pre abolition.he was stitched up by witheld evidence which proved he couldnt have done it . You cant bring em back after execution but did the death penalty act as a deterrant was it a case of rough justice.
Just watched the film. At the end a caption went up saying he did 608 executions. So that will be 607 people who weren't deterred by capital punishment, apart from Timothy Evens who definitely didn't do the crime he was hanged for. There have been too many others like him since abolition for it ever to be brought back.
