removing tv logos

I collect music dvd tracks of my favourite songs (I have about 5,500). Most of these are via compilation or greatest hits dvds. As I have some gaps in my collection of favourites I was thinking of copying them from some of the various music channels on tv. The only problem is that they always have the channel's logo on screen. A friend has told me that he's heard of a computer programme that will remove the logos. Does anybody know of this process and where I can get one for my pc.

I don't see how this could work without looking at each frame manually and trying to mask it "somehow". I think your friend is having you on. How would this program know what to replace it with?

I've been fascinated reading the methods involved. I'm not a techno person and am not sure whether I'm brave enough to give it a go. Still nothing ventured nothing gained.
