I've got a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers to. Can anyone help?
28. What French word, literally meaning 'arrived', is used in English, often in a derogatory sense, to mean anyone who has recently achieved wealth, influence or celebrity?
48. Modern two word name of famous London thoroughfare which sounds as if it should be the centre of the butchery trade but which was the former centre of the London tea trade?
58. Seven letter spelling of word used to denote a rasher or cube of bacon used to flavour and moisten meat while cooking. Replace the initial letter of word with the letter 'c' to make name of Mediterranean vegetable related to globe artichoke.
You'll need to have the quiz questions for these answers, they're pictures. The answer to the following two questions are names either male or female:
85. Popular plant bearing white flowers.
87. Type of grass widely grown for hay.
I'd continue to look for them myself, but the answers need to be in tomorrow.
Thanks for those answers.
I'd thought of Nouveau riche, but it means newly rich I think and like you didn't know where the 'arrived' bit came into it! Nevertheless, your answer is much appreciated.
Thanks linlam, it's saved me a headache.
