Food Processor

After many years service, my Kenwood Chef mixer has given up the ghost. I am thinking of getting a food processor, but don't really want the chopping, slicing, grating side of things, I do more cake and pastry making. I'm wondering if a processor would be a waste of money and I'd be better of with just a mixer. Any thoughts?

If you don't think you will miss all the functions of a food processor then buy a mixer.

Be careful though and don't make the mistake I did. I bought a mixer (Kenwood Patissier) thinking that will do the job and I have hardly used it!! It just sits in the cupboard. In fact thinking about that I might just flog it on ebay. Thanks for making me think of that!! LOL

I eventually bought a food processor (Magimix) and use that regularly and I would highly recommend it.
One of my biggest kitchen mistakes was swopping my Kenwood Chef for a food processor, my advise would be - don't do it.

Kenwood also do a really good mixer for cakes and pastry. It is the type with the big bowl and then different mixing attachments. Even though the Magimix is fab, the bowl type of mixer is much better for cakes, meringues etc. You see chefs on the tv using them a lot for baking.

It is not cheap though. I've seen it in the Argos catalogue for �320 but it looks fantastic. I've had my eye on it for a while. It also comes with a separate blender attachment so you don't lose the chopping function completely.
