black male acoustic singer who had 90's one hit wonder

Can anyone help please, despite the vague details! There was a lovely 90's UK single, which I think was a bit of a one hit wonder. It was a gentle, sweet love song - something about being in love with a female friend & not being able to tell her, or something like that! The singer was a young black male with a really nice sweet voice. It was acoustic and slightly folksy. Was definitely a minor hit in the UK. Can anyone help me please? It's driving me mad! (P.S. I seem to remember the guy wore a black trilby-style hat on the video, if that helps!)

I think the answer is no, but Sydney Youngblood? He was a bit dancier and not quite a one hit wonder but he did wear hats and have a sweet voice.
