My kids are3 all past that now but a few years ago I sat and made 3 costumes from scratch for my daughters and my stepson. My girls had bat and witch costumes and my stepson was the grim reaper.I do object to paying through the nose for all the novelties that are in the shops at the moment.

well done u daffy, more power to ure elbow lol!!
Costumes are about a fiver from Tesco and Asda, and masks from the poundshop near me are a pound (oddly enough!) , so hardly a great expense.

I wouldn't know where to start making costumes from scratch and I'm bloody useless with a needle and cotton, so I consider shop bought goods a Godsend to be honest.

Can well understand but for me its the little things that parents buy, does my head in mini cakes games even so the parents can just unwrap halloween, i never made a costume that included sewing, black bags, garden wire, jelly snakes, garish make up, sheets, bandages etc!!!

Aww bless puddi -just brought back an ace memory there !!

J's dad made her a pumkin for guising -he made it out a steel frame and meticulouslty covered it in orange fabric -she was the whole cheese.

What a lovely poignant memory -I had forgotten about those things.x
