Film with aliens!

I remember watching a film when i was a kid that I've never seen anywhere since. Don't remember much from it except that it had a family of aliens in it that looked a little like ET but with baby-faces. The only other things I remember were that they drank some kind of fizzy drink (from cans), one of them got sucked into a vacuum cleaner (i think!?) and at the end the family became citizens of the US!I realize this sounds like I've been taking mind-altering drugs but I know what I saw!Any help!?
