Did i dislocate my hip?
10 Answers
I was playing football for my school around about this time last year when i was 15. I kicked the ball and felt a pop around my hip and was in pain, i could not move my leg. My teacher told me not to move from the ground because if it was a dislocation the bone could pop through the skin! This didnt help as it was a freezing cold day and i was shivvering! I was in alot of pain and could not get comfey in any postition and i started to shiver again, my leg started to hurt and suddenly felt comfey but i was still in abit of pain. This made me think if i put the bone back in the socket? Once the ambulance took me to the hospital i had a x-ray which they said the bone looked fine and the doctor said it was just a muscle that i damaged. he gave me antibiotics and told me to rest for 2 weeks, i did all of that but even when i play football today, my hip will begin to ache so i have to stop playing. Did i dislocate my hip and did i put it back in myself? why does it still ache to this day? is there anything i should do? Thanks for reading!

Unfortunately the older you get the more indestructible you are and for damage to have longer lasting effects.
You could check with an osteopath to see if they can do anything to help and give you some exercises to try and free things up for you.
Don't leave it too long as with damage left longterm it is possible, though not as likely at your age, for things like arthritis to set in.
Are you making sure you are warming up properly before you do anything active like football?

As Jen says, its unlikely to have been a dislocation, and I would be doubtful if you could put the joint back into the socket yourself. A dislocated hip, I would quess, is going to be excruciating
Another option would be to see you GP who could decide whether a refrral to an NHS physio might help. Exercises to build up the muscles supporting your hip might help as Jen says
If you don't mind paying you can always see a physio privately.
Good luck I hope you get it sorted

I'm guessing, but with the hip being a deep ball and socket joint, you would really be in no doubt if it had come out. However wouldn't help to get a consultation with a sports physiotherapist? Then you'd be closer to knowing the cause and the cure. Sometimes these sorts of injuries take a few years to resolve but the important thing is to keep going till you find out how best to deal with it. I did my back six years ago and only now is it well mended.
it may have been a partial dislocation, which popped itself back in when you moved, when you think you put it back in, the pain became less acute and more of an ache??
See an osteopath or a physio therapist.Honestly i left it and now suffer the consequences of a reckless youth (im only 23 lol!)
I suffer partial dislocations from time to time but i have learnt to cope with them and sort them out myself even though it can take a couple of hours to do so!

...if only, jen78!
Yes, I'd try going to see an osteopath about this, they're good with muscle aches. Some specialise in sports injuries. Not available on the HNS, unfortunately, so you'll probably pay 30 or so for half an hour-45 minutes.

im not sure what it is to be honest. my auntie rents rooms out in her house and funny enough a physio is staying there. i asked him about it and he made me stretch my leg out in differant positions, he also put pressure on it. He said that it sounds like i did dislocate it and when i play football now i am just aggrovating the joint. He told me it will heal in time and its best that i did it early as my bones are still growing and getting stronger together.
