Jayne's advice to England.

Okay, this is what I found out. This is how you can win today. Now pay attention. The secret is in stopping Richie McCaw.

When you make a tackle, you have to give yourselves a chance of winning the ball. Obvious. But Richie McCaw stops you doing it. How?

After a tackle, players have to enter the tackle area from the back. But while you all go round to the back, Richie McCaw comes straight in from the side, brings his rear foot forward, plants it in the tackle area on your side of the player on the ground, and binds on to one of you. This forms a ruck, and keeps you off the ball.

Coming in from the side is illegal. He gets away with it because, as he binds on to you, he swings his trailing leg round and plants it behind him, and behind the tackle area. As soon as his feet are grounded, they look to be in a legal position, and it appears that he entered the tackle area from the back. The referee is watching the ball on the ground. The first that he sees will be McCaw's back foot, which appears to be in a legal position. McCaw gets away with this continually.

The small time he saves by coming in from the side is enough to keep you away from the ball. So even if New Zealand don't dominate the line outs, or the scrums, they will try to dominate possession in the loose play, through Richie McCaw.

Do not let them control this loose possession, otherwise Dan Carter will be allowed to able ot exploit any weakness in your back line. So as soon as you tackle an All Black, look for McCaw coming in. It won't be easy to beat him into the ruck, but you must try. And if you do, my darlings, then the ball is yours for the taking.

Come on, boys. We've got their number! Yesterday afternoon, I put �10 on you to upset the All Blacks. Good luck, and I'll see you afterwards in the communal bath.

ffs JJ-that was a mouthful ^ (as the hooker said to the second row forward )-------would have thot if M c Caw was continually breaking the rules then the referees would pull him up on this by now..........
another apt term-your mates will be well impressed with this one--'screw him'-make life awkward in the scrum for your opposition prop(the ones with nos 1 or 3 on their jerseys and who have a lived in looking face)

It said in my paper that McCaw has got this down to such a fine art, that he gets away with it. Nobody else has mastered this early entry into the breakdown.

Some people think he is the leading player of his generation. Others think he just breaks the laws.

Why are people starting to object to the Haka ?

I think it's really jolly. A game against New Zealand wouldn't be the same without the Haka.

I think the Haka is part of New Zealand's strategy. All those huge guys pulling silly faces and making the other side laugh so much. Then New Zealand step in and score a couple of tries before they can recover. I think England should try this approach and start today with some Morris dancing whilst N Z are doing the Haka.

also re the haka--last saturday the wales team stood in a line and stared out the all blacks ,commentator said this was a first -- wrong-willy anderson did it with his ulster side when the all blacks came to ravenhill a few years back

lesblue ... think of it as a patriotic flutter. I gamble regularly, and I always do it for the buzz, not in the hope of winning. I treat betting money as dead money, whether it's in the casino, or at the bookies. So, I feel better for having placed the bet, whether I win or not.

The Haka ... there was something on the telly last week where a bunch of killjoys were saying the Haka had no part in the modern game, and should be scrapped. I hope it never happens. I love to watch the other team facing up to them.

Do you remember years ago, I think Will Carling was captain, the England team went into a huddle and ignored the Haka? I thought that was pathetic, and so rude.

I think you are wasting your money JJ. we went to see them play Australia two weeks ago and they weren't that great.
The line out was poor, no abysmal, they played very little running rugby and they failed to convert the ball. (bring back Johnny lol )
