I have been invited to a filmstars fancy dress party on 14th October and am thinking of going as Lara Croft - does anyone have any ideas where i can pick up suitable items for this costume?

Try this. Apparently the original costume is up for auction too!!
Well assuming the bog standard Lara you are going to need a light blue vest (Gap?, or dye an old white one?), small khaki shorts (again Gap or the dye option) Two guns and holsters - Toys R us? and some kind of strap to go round your thighs connecting to the guns - maybe some wide black elastic from department store/haberdashers. Obviously the long plait, maybe Claire's Accesories and the round red glasses will be tough to find but I would try Superdrug and all the discount shops. A small rucksack - second-hand shop or Army Surplus and a shotgun - again Toys r Us. Also boots (hiking boots can you borrow some and socks). Finally go down the charity shops and get yourself one of the huge bras they seem to sell, fill with cotton wool and away you go!
I dressed as Lara Croft for a fancy dress party last week. I used the pictures of Lara's "Angel of Darkness" costumes on the Planet Lara website as a guide:

I also took some elements from the look of the first movie (top and boots).

Black top: New Look
Camouflage shorts (cut down from trousers): Army surplus store
Belt: Army surplus store
Holsters: Black Viper leg holsters from Army surplus store
Guns (green guns painted silver and black using paint pens from a car accessories shop): Woolworths
Gloves: Ebay (but available in Army surplus stores)
I had the bag and boots, plaited my brown hair, and got white leg warmers to make the socks effect at the top of my high boots (couldn't find decent socks long enough and the leg warmers were really cheap).
I found it near impossible to get red round sunglasses. I bought some on Ebay but they arrived after my party. I didn't really need them to make the costume work. Instead I wore coloured contact lenses which made my eyes brown.
