30y asian female doc being 'forced' into arranged marriage and Home Office is demanding she be returned to UK - what's it got to do with us. She went there of her own volition and we tax-payers are expected to fork up to save her from her culture.

If the woman'd been captured before...then surely, with the brain she's obviously got, and knowing her parents' stance on an aranged marriage...she wouldnt've gone back. Her mother and the rest iof the family were fit enough, and had enough money, to come over here and end up at her flat...so if the mother'd become ill....you'd have expected them to've paid for decent treatment over there....and had it been me, my suspicions would've been aroused.

If a British citizen (I assume she is) is being held against their will then it is the Governments responsibility to act.

If she is not a citizen of this country then they should keep their noses out.

Have a heart. She is an independent, intelligent doctor, undertaking further training to become a GP. She was tricked and lied to, and believing her mother was very ill, returned to her mother's home to see her, only to be kidnapped and beaten in an attempt to force her into an arranged marriage. I' sure none of us would wish to be in her position, and if she can be rescued,so much the better.

I don't believe that she is a British citizen, but she is a resident of this country and hence we as a nation afford her our protection.

Just wondering....do you believe there's different levels of Britishness?

sp1814...there are different levels; those that conform to the Brit way of life & law and those that have just one foot in the Brit way and t'other elsewhere (foreign culture). ie some asians, as in this case. Her background is arranged marriages and she knew her parents expectations.

In her present circumstances, she should accept her fate - marry and divorce if the relationship is impossible.

I can't see why Brit Gov has to be involved in a domestic dispute nor agree with her whingeing & creation of international interference.
