You watch tv , you go to the local shopping center.
And if you look.
Tell me.
Do you see the christmas spirit?
Because i just see a lot of folk acting out some preconceived idea and pretence of xmas.
Ita all abiout the tiys , the gifts and getting overfed and drinking too much.
On reflection it looks like an imitation of a reality that doesnt exist.
Call me a cynic or a realist?
Have a very merry overstufffed , pigged out , exorbitant , christmas.
IM SURE JESUS WANTS YOU FOR A SUNBEAM.
JESUS CETAINLY DOESNT WANT ME FOR ONE

I know I see a definite difference. Whether that is partly to do with no longer seeing it thru the eyes of a child is another question. But it is all certainly much more commercial.....each year it starts that little bit sooner. And if when you hear the first ads for Christmas-all you can think is'oh god no-not yet'.....then that is a good indication that christmas is not what it used to be.
It may seem like an early start to the season, but not as early as it did about 10 years ago. It seems to be about mid-late November now but back then it was about mid-end September.
It was the year that Regent St was decked out with the good ole traditional themes of "Tango" and "Birds Eye" logo's instead of Christmas lights - a Christmas all time low as far as I'm concerned. It seemed everyone tried to step back a few steps and re-think the Christmas message a bit after that.
