Don't get me wrong, he may be good for the world, but not for America. Bush put the American people first and the world second, I think Mr Obama will do the opposite.

You can't know that he will do anything. So far he has done two things which will eventually help the American people, one is starting the closure of Guantanamo Bay and the other freezing the pay of some White House employees.
Surely if he looks outward at the global situation and heals some of the chasmic rifts between America and the rest of the world, then Americans must ultimately benefit.
However, it is far too early to judge the man, give him a chance, the Americans will.

Judging by his first day he does not seem very good :-)
I think I will give him a week before making my final decision.
While I have no problem with any leader putting their country first, when that incudes locking people up in prison for five years without trial, or invading a country just because you feel like it, I think we can do without that sort of leadership.
If Saddam Hussain had locked up a number of Americans without trial for as long as Bush has kept people locked up then Bush would be screaming from the rooftops at the injustice of it all.

Only time will tell but just a few pointers.
1. Halting the trials of the 9/11 terrorists in Guatamala. Although the evidence was gained from torture there will not be enough evidence to convict them in a criminal court so they may go free. Is that what the majority of Americans want?
2. Saving the big 3 American car companies. Nobody wants to buy these gas guzzlers but does that matter?
3. Free health care for everyone. Is it really achievable and will the citizens agree to raise their taxes to pay for it?
Generally the utterings of Obama have been too left wing and here in the UK wev'e had lots of experience in this.

He has been overhyped, but we can't rate him yet. Unfortunately for him, he has been put on a pedestal and some people seem to be almost worshipping him, so this will make his task more difficult. Therefore he can only go down in some people's estimation - not his fault.
He can't be worse than Bush, but then is there anybody that could be worse than Bush or be worse for America than Bush was.
Good luck Mr Obama - you need it.

I think it's great that he is a black President, what I think is not great is basically what Nedflanders said (which is correct), ie the parallels between Obama and Blair. The UK had prosperity built on debt since 1997, which we are now having to repay. Dont get me wrong I think Obama is great for the world, but not for the USA, just like Blair was good for Europe (bye bye rebate) but not for the UK.
