Whitechapel - how true to life is it?
1 Answers
Would the subordinates of DI Chandler (played by Rupert Penry-Jones) really behave in such a disruptive, disrespectful and disobedient manner?
And if they did, would it be tolerated (as seems to be the case in this programme)?
The storyline is good, but the behaviour of the police characters is spoiling my enjoyment!

The Di as portrayed, would never reach the CID office. He is clearly an officer who has no CID experience and would never be given that role with this much expereience missing. That is not to say there are not DI's who are not that good, but he is well out of water.
Having said that, if the portrayal was to be real the DS' would soon sort him out and he could never survive. As in the armed forces to a great extent the backbone of CID offices, traffic units and otherspecialisms are sergeants.
