Tesco Value Digestives

Digestives are digestives or so I thought. I have just eaten one with my tea and I can't believe how much salt I can taste. I know biscuit mix has to have a bit of salt in it but this just tasted as though it was half salt half sugar. It was gross. What is the purpose of salt in biscuits anyway?

I bought them to use as a base for a cheesecake I was making for my mate. I normally go for McVities choc digestives.
