1988 Little Dorrit

I know that a film was made of 'Little Dorrit' in 1988 starring Derek Jacobi. I have a vague memory of it being adapted as a tv series.
Can anyone confirm this? I've looked and looked, but can't find any reference to it. Strange. Maybe i'm quite wrong.

Yes, there was a 1988 Little Dorritt film starring Derek Jacobi andis often put on in two parts (or more).

The reason I know is my Mum was persevering with that awful (really, really bad) version the BBC recently did and we flicked onto Sky and the film you mention was on.

The tv series went out in October 2008. Scripted by Andrew Davies and with Tom Courtney and Claire Foy. Derek Jacobi was in the cinema version.

Yes, I do know that there was a film, but wonder if it, ie the 1988 film, was ever adapted for TV as a weekly series.
Maybe I'm just rememberig the film being shown on TV and not a series at all.

Further to your question:~
It was actually made as (2 part,see below) TV production,because it was so long.I remember because I watched it.Actually, being made in 2 parts,it made more sense than the recent dramatisation.
Then the two parts were joined together and released as a film.

You actually watched it on tv? This means I am not going mad after all. I know I didn't see it at the cinema but had an idea I saw bits of it on telly. Looks like that was right after all.

Well Goyambokka you are not going potty,we DID see it on TV!
although IMdB lists it as a film,I have a funny feeling it went straight onto video.
It would (as it is 6 hours long) have to have been shown as 2 films in a cinema,but on video it would stay as a 6hour film?
