The wand rests
5 Answers
We were recently playing a game called the wand rests, like the puzzle games i.e. black magic, the green glass valley hills, the moon has a round face etc where people know the key to the game and then when you get in on it you can play along. Has anyone heard of the WAND RESTS and know how to play it and the secret behind it...please help!
Thanks

The person with the wand asks the other person (when they are back in) who has been chosen and says 'the wand is moving and rests on....... are they the chosen one'? Rest on two or three others before the chosen one.
The answer is the person who last spoke as the other person went out of the room.
Does this make sense to you heff5?
I have never heard of the green grass valley hills - how does that work?
I know the others.

Hi thanks for that, no we are still a little confused, we didn't actually get to play it as apparently two people needed to know the secret, however there were not two people who did so could you explain form the start please if that is ok :)?!
Well green glass valley hills (i think this is what it is called) is where you say two things for example, i like food but i dont like drink, they do not have to be linked (like food and drink) but it makes it more difficult for the guesser if you get me. So another example would be i like doors but i dont like windows, i like carrots but i dont like peas (the aim being you have to like something with 2 of the same letter in a row e.e 'oo' in food 'll' in hills etc) then you say join if you think you know however it normally takes quite a while for them to get it.
Do you understand that one?

Yes thanks heff5 - I call that one something else!!
The wand is resting goes like this:
One person goes out of the room. The wand holder chooses somebody in the room where the wand will rest and relays this to the rest of the group. They then call the other back in and the aim is for them to guess who has been chosen.
The wand holder stands in the centre of a circle of others. He/ she moves the wand around the circle and says 'the wand is moving and is now resting on.....................are they the chosen one?' It is an idea to rest on two or three people as red herrings before the chosen one.
The secret is that the chosen one is always the last person to speak as the chooser leaves the room.
When you do it for the first time the chooser and the wand holder need to know the secret and then wait for the others to work it out.
It is really difficult to explain as you can see!! is that any better?

Do you know passing the scissors crossed or uncrossed?
Pass scissors around the circle open or closed. But the secret is if you have your legs cossed or uncrossed - nothing to do with the scissors!! the leader decides on whether it is correct to have legs crossed or uncrossed when passing the scissors.
Another is I'm going to the market to buy..................and you go around the circle and every body has to buy something. The secret is that they buy something which begins with the first letter of their surname.
Another - Across London Bridge.
the leader says 'I'm going across London Bridge to -er - York and I can'
Ask all in the circle to repeat wiht a different destination.
The secret is that you must say - er- before the town name.
That's all for now. Good luck. Mrslarge.
