Old (ish) film

some years ago there was a film on tv about a nuclear war, it involved *Minuetman misiles* being exploded which in turn caused a nuclear winter, I think a starring role was played by Jason Robards and after the film finished TV companies said because it was so realistic and horrific it would never be aired again. can anyone remember this film and what it was called (I think this was in the 70s./ 80s.) The title *The morning after* comes to mind but I could be very wrong....
