Question for anone who has seen the movie "Saw"

I just went last night to see the movie "Saw", but had to leave early and missed part of it. Could anyone tell me where the X in the room was that the murderer was talking about? And why he said that it could be found easier with your eyes shut than open? Also, did the black man that got his throat slit by the murderer die?

Adam told the Doctor to turn off the lights in the room & there was a X that had been painted on the wall behind the Doc.The paint that had been used was a neon paint that stood out in the dark.Hence why the killer used the term your eyes shut.When you close your eyes it's dark & you could only see the X in the dark.Danny Glover did not die when he got his throat slit.I know you said you missed part of it but you really missed alot of it.The parts that you missed were the important bits to the movie.
