mine would not be a claim to fame these days as he is not really remembered, but he lifted the FA Cup and I think the European Cup passed through his capable hands at one time.....is that what you meant? gulp

Many years ago (in another life) I was one of the organisers of a staff-parent ceilidh at the school where I taught. Somebody brought along a guest who everyone whispered about: "She was Miss England, you know". Later that evening I found myself partnered with her, for a few dozey-does ;-)
I had a few convos with Dwight Yorke in the Living Room in Birmingham when he played for the blues. A friend of a friend was thinking of buying his Uncle's golf course in Tobago and so we were chatting about that.
Along with a fellow first-aider, I helped save the life of a 14-year-old pupil who had severed an artery in his arm when he fell through a wired plate glass door (while his mates were chasing him with a can of 'fart spray'!).
The only communication either of us had from his parents was via their solicitor, seeking to find ways to sue either us or the education authority!
