Item o the One Show...birth defects...
3 Answers
Ive just watched an item on alleged birth defects from mothers in Corby Northamptonshire who claim the dismantling of the vast Corby steel works in 1982/3 and subsequent exposure to toxic material has led to these defects.Their lawyer says the toxic elements are an integrated part of the steel making process. MY POINT IS: When the massive Consett Iron Works was closed 1980 and subsequently 'removed from the landscape'.The method of steel making was the same as Corby....How come The young mothers of Consett never suffered similar birth defects as Corby ...or is there some other possible explanation for these kinds of defects.Corby is a very close knit community after all????

The High Court action is based on the claim that Corby Borough Council was negligent in ensuring toxic substances were not released into the atmosphere while carrying out the reclamation of the steel works site.
