Freeview 'commentary'?
4 Answers
On my freeview box, on ITV1, something weird is happening.
I can see the programme, but there's no sound, apart from occasionally, a voice commentating on what is happening. For example... "Val and Eric are standing outside the polling station."
I've tested my other channels, and all except BBC1 and 2 have no sound either. Is this some sort of Freeview feature I've accidentally activated, and if so, how do I change it back?

However audio description should be an addition to the usual sound output, not a replacement for it, so there's definitely something very odd going on.
If you've got the manual for the box, try looking for a reference to 'Audio Description' to see if you can find a way to cancel it.
Alternatively, simply disconnecting the box from the mains (and waiting a few minutes before reconnecting it) might well fix the problem.

Looks like you've selected what's known as AD (audio description) inadvertently! Go into this section by pressing the button with a speaker symbol and a question mark beside it on the remote control, and scroll to deselect, by moving it from NAR (narrative) to ENG,which should suffice. Keep in mind that your remote buttons may differ slightly, and you may have to check all channels that offer AD. Good Luck!
