"Gilgamesh", they might have had pause for thought. "Gilgamesh, what you seek you will never find. For when the Gods created Man they let death be his lot, eternal life they withheld. Let your every day be full of joy, love the child that holds your hand, let your wife delight in your embrace, for these alone are the concerns of humanity."

I have read 2 versions of Gilgamesh.,Andrew George and Stephen Mitchel. and although they are both good, and the whole epic poem is fantastic ,and frankly equals the Oddessy , this particulcar quote , in both books, is inferior to the BBC program version, which is tight and emotionally overwelming..So what translation/ version did they use? Or was it edited by the BBC writers? Please can anyone tell me the answer to this since the TV version is infinitley better than the so called "best" translations in print.
