membrane sweep anybody had experience
Hi all, I'm going for a membrane sweep next Friday and then if that doesn't work I will be having an induction the following Wednesday. Has anybody had any experience of a sweep? Is it painfull and did it work for you?

It was more uncomfortable and undignified than painful, had a few irregular mild contractions that afternoon. Then started having proper contractions the next day at 8am, baby bailey was born at 10.32 am the day after that (40+7)
Also helpful (I think) was washing two cars, long walk around the supermarket, spicy pizza and and "early night" ;)
Good luck, hope it all goes well, come back and tell us how you get on! x

its not painful, just a bit uncomfortable.
with my first i had one at 41 weeks and it did nothing. Induction finally worked at 42+3
with my second i asked for a sweep at 40+1 and a consultant did it, he was quite rough but again not painful. I had two days of a heavy show and then it stopped. I went into labour at 40+4.
