because the plus ones are just a cheap way of using channels allocated to that company.

In other words, rather than show new or different programmes on that channel, they just repeat one or more of the others, otherwise they could lose that channel space.

I dont think the BBC have ANY +1 channels do they?

When a TV company signs a contract to show programs I guess you pay so much for each showing.

As ITV shows mainly "new" shows they may have to pay a lot to show them again.

But stations like ITV3 or Gold mainly show old programs or films so it probably costs them very little to show each program twice.

Thats my theory anyway.
Try asking the Beeb and ITV, better to get it straight from source.
i think the +1's can be very handy. you realise youve missed the start of something so just need to be ready for the +1 version.
good question , i find that the + 1 channels are a godsend when there is sod on all evening except at 9 pm when about 6 channels are all showing stuff i want to watch , so it is a case of juggling ,well i wiill watch this side at 9 on dtv, sky plus the other 2 at 9, then the other 2 at 10 , then this is repeated on wednesday at 1 in the morning so i can sky plus it then , good old living tv even does + 2 which is great as a lot of my shows are on living - perhaps i should get a life ??? i'll get my coat !!!
