Why do the investigators in the show CSI always use flashlights in a room instead of just turning the lightswitch on?

I'm sure its a safety issue. I've seen a number of films/ tv shows where the room blows up or something like that when the lights are switched on. Its always better not to touch the eletcrics when you don't know whats happened in a room.
