Do you think flies know whats going on? There has been a fly in my flat since weekend now and I'm sure it knows I want it dead. It taunts me by crawling on me while I try to sleep and this lunchtime it kept flying around my ear. It only seems to land where I cant hit it to get full impact. like on a glass or on the ceiling.

why do they fly around light fittings even when lights are off. Why?? I want to get me one of those tennis racquet zapper things
''why do they fly around light fittings''

Precisely so you can't bash 'em with one of those tennis racket zapper things..

...they aint daft...
I used to watch them outside, if there is something hanging like a birdfeeder or some low branches they all fly around underneath them. the abrupt 90 degree turns are supposed to stop them being caught by predators
Question Author
you dont have to bash them just make sure they go on electric bit :-) I was told to hit them from behind as they cant see it coming. hasnt worked
''hasnt worked''

The beauty of having Compound eyes I guess...

Anyway... ignore it long enough and you'll find it one morning upside down on the windowsill... broken neck lol...
hey sis, i gave mum and dad 2 of those tennis racquet things last week. Go and pinch one of theirs.

It may still need batteries in it, dad was supposed to bring them home from work lol
The big blue bottle ones are very annoying and the small fruit flies that buzz around your face.

I had a wasp in the house at the weekend, it didn't have a pleasant ending!
blue bottles are not as irritating as houseflies, they are quite bright, they aim for a window so they can be easily thrown out. houseflies dither around under the lights
I'd rather have flies than wasps anytime - I'm allergic to wasps and have to carry around one of those Epipens with me. Strange thing is though, even though wasps are annoying, I'm not frightened of them even though they could potentially kill me. I am however scared of spiders any bigger than 5mm. Weird...
The only fly I really liked and wouldn't have wanted rid of, was Jeff Goldblum.

I hate bees and wasps. I ran out of my house at the weekend bent over as I was convinced the wasp was attacking me and looked up to see my neighbour stood looking at me like I was a loony lol!
have you tried opening a window or a door to release it to the wild?
