Last night's documentary was interesting to say the least - for a man of 65, he looked at least a decade or more older - all that drinking, smoking and good living certainly took its toll in recent years. I know he was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer.
I liked him enormously (though flinched at his liberal use of the 'C' word last night...!).
RIP Keith. Bottoms Up.

Truly weird, I watched the interview last night and he looked like a very old broken man. I am sure he would have loved the timing. For all his clear faults he loved life and did not want to blame anyone else for his fate.
I am sure if you ate in his restaurants in Bristol in the 1970s it would have been a hoot.
A gem from the rather boring BBC TV world of the 1980s.

Channel 4 ummm... a very interesting interview to say the least - Keith Allen was the interviewer - so a bit like the blind leading the blind.... actually it was very entertaining, but parts of it made quite uncomfortable viewing. he really had gone downhill. Still - he certainly lived a good life while he could, so all in all, not such sad news as that of the young boxer who hung himself yesterday ;-(
