Not sure if iv posted this in the correct topic but here goes. Does anyone know if its possible to have Sky+ as a one off payment. I want to bring my mum into the 21st century and get rid of her video. She does not want any other channels apart from the basic bbc, itv etc. Sky+ is the easiest way to record so even she can do it.
Ta muchly
Sky will probably want a 12 Month Min Subscription and after 1 Year your mum can cancel the contract, keep the Sky+ Box and view the Free to Air Channels from then on.
And PVR will work exactly like a SKY+ box without the subscription or Sky channels.
Humax are very good.
This has freeview, with twin tuners, so she can record one channel whilst watching another. She can pause live tv and rewind too, if she wishes.
Very easy to use.

I'd go with the freeview box with twin digital recorder (we've got one - not a humax, another make) and love it. You only make a one off payment (ie purchase the box), then, as hc4361 says you can work it like a sky+ box. I use it to record a whole series of something, and plan my weeks viewing at the weekend by looking what's on and then setting it to record anything I fancy. Even my 78 year old father-in-law has one (though his is a humax) and he can work it fine.
