Can anyone recomend an indoor aerial or where to purchase a particular one , which is capable of receiving the freeview digital channels .

The one I recently purchased does not pick up these channels , even though it states on the box that it does ( the problem is not one of signal in my area ; because I am able to receive the channels with a roof areial )

TIA

Thanks 4getmenot

I'll nip over to tesco .
However , can you please say what the particular make your's is - is it a tesco own brand or another brand I should look out for when I go in .
I will have a look at lunch and let you know but this is the kind of sort you should look for although mine was about a fiver.

All new indoor aerials would be capable of receiving digital TV.

the chances are if you've already got one and it's not working then any other one you get won't work.

You may be able to get a signal with your roof aerial but there is a huge difference in getting a signal with a high gain huge beam antenna on top of your roof and a getting one with a little antenna tucked down the back of the TV.
my old one didnt work and I went out and got a cheap one from tesco and then an expensive one from Hughes, Expensive one was broccoli
looked it up it was a technica TT-02 dont think they sell anymore but try get something similar

Thanks guys

4getmenot - that looks similiar to the one i bought , which does not have a biooster .
Is it likely that one with a booster would make the difference ?
yes makes all the difference. I have one in bedroom too and before I turn dial for booster you cannot even normal channels. When do you need it?

LOL

I will buy one with a booster and see if that does the trick - i see that Argos are selling ones with booster for less than £ 20 .
if yuou do get one with booster make sure it has antennas too, built in ones are cr@p
Question Author
Oh dear

The ones in Argos looks like it must be built in - i cant see a separate device .

Are you saying that you can buy ones where the booster is separate to the aerial itself ?
no just ones where you get antennas, long metal aerial sticking out top. but also a dial for the booster. x
just to add some more confusion, i bought one with a booster from argos which didn;t work and then got a cheaper one for a fiver from wilkinsons (no booster) and it works fine!
the cheaper ones seem to work best

Thanks again
looking at the customer reviews it looks like a case of pot luck - that one seems to work for some people and not for others .

I'll give it a go - fingers crossed .
Surely it depends how far you are from the TV transmitter, or if you hjave hills around you, of if you are in a "dip".

If you are a mile from the transmitter an indoor aerial may be fine, if you are 50 miles then maybe not.

Also remember that if your area is still pushing out the analogue signal the digital signal will be weaker. When they turn off analogue the digital signal is boosted so it is more likely to get picked up by an indoor aerial.
