Has anybody every known or met a murderer ?
37 Answers
A friend of mine was getting married several years ago in exeter and we were all over for the wedding - including an ex boyfriend of hers and his wife. Lovely guy - we all got on great for the weekend and I even though that it was a pity my friend hadnt married her ex as I did not like her husband. Anyway this ex boyfriend of hers went on to murder his wife and their adopted daughter. Boy was I a bad judge of character there. Any similiar stories ?

One guy who used to play table tennis in our local league murdered a guy a couple of streets from where I used to live. My brother (policeman) told me that 3 of them, including a girl, had tied this bloke up, tortured him for a couple of days whilst they sold off all his possessions, killed him, dismembered the body and tried to set fire to it................He's probably out by now as this was about 18 years ago.

Here's the fellow I knew.....found this in the local press archives....
BODY-IN-THE-BATH killer Stephen Loft has been sent to Rampton - without anyone ever telling his victim's parents, the Evening Press can reveal today.
Loft was jailed for life in 1990 for slashing, burning, stabbing and suffocating William Birnie, before setting the body alight in a bath at Mr Birnie's home in Brunswick Street, South Bank, York. The court had been told Birnie was "tormented if not tortured" by Loft before his death.
Mr Birnie's parents believed Loft was still serving a life sentence in prison until the Evening Press discovered he was discharged from jail and sent to Rampton top-security psychiatric hospital more than three years ago.

This was the one I mentioned,it happened on my birthday:

"The group caught up to Mr Redfern and his brother Paul, 25, before the older man was punched to the ground.
Miss Wilcock told the court how Worden kicked and stamped on Mr Redfern's head as he lay face down on the ground.
Marshall was kicking him around the shoulders and sides of his body at the same time, she said.
She described how she had broken up the kicking and Worden's reaction to her intervention.
She said: "He was looking directly at me, there was anger in his eyes and his face was kind of twisted."
