Ryan Giggs achievements in 2009 ...

Played in some, but not all, of Man Utd's games

Was part of the League Title winning side, but didn't make a huge contribution in this particular year.

Played a real stinker in the Champions League Final, and was a major part of the reason why Man Utd lost.

Err ... that's all I can think of.

I'm sure Giggs has been a fab player for Man Utd.

He has a lifetime of stunning achievements and trophies.

But what has he done ... this ... year.

There were several nominees who had become World Champions ... this ... year ...

... who were beaten by someone who has had a pretty mediocre year.

As your achievements this year don't seem to matter, Red Rum would have been a valid winner.

As would Jesse Owens.

Or Tiger Woods (having a bad year this year, but his past record is fab)
