Thanks so much folks....I knew I was right,my friend,a scot himself was adament it was an Irish accent,silly man.    Thankyou,merry xmas

Apparently he ~(mike myers) recorded the voice once in a normal voice then at the last minute decided he wanted Shrek to sound Scottish and rerecorded the entire dialogue.

It's supposed to be Scottish, but I can see how you friend may not see how on earth it could sound anything like him!
