Name of film? (bit of a long shot)

the film was probibly done in the 60's maybe earlier, i'm sure it was colour!
it was set in london, about two men, there was a murderer murdering young girls and one of the men was the murderer, i think it was the nice one (that being the twist!!) and a young office temp girl who was quite central to the plot (not sure if she managed to stay alive or get murdered), if i remember correctly a bloodied coat was intrumental in finding out who the murderer was, although this and any of the above might be completely wrong!
i could have been a short film made for tv.

Maybe the middle segment of "Three Cases Of Murder".
It's from 1955 and in black & white but has some similarities to your description...
