There was a poem read at a funeral of one of the main coronation strret characters from a while back. I cannot remember which character it was, possibly Alf Roberts, Alma Baldwin or Someone else.

Does anyone know who or what the poem was and who wrote it?

I Would appreciate it if some Corrie addict can supply the answer.

Cheers!

Not sure if it was a 'Corrie' funeral but a soap burial ws accompanied by the Mary Frye poem 'Do not stand at my grave and weep'

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am...

Was it "Stop all the clocks" by W.H.Auden...I know I heard this on a soap when I was just turning TV on....just a suggestion...
I don't know if it was in a soap but, "Stop all the Clocks" (WH Auden) was said by John Hannah in 'Four Weddings & a Funeral' and very moving it was too.

Stop All The Clocks

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum,
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead,
Put crepe bows around the necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.
