A shame. Snippets of the news last night showed him in baggy jeans & shirt, looking quite uncomfortable in the limelight. Kissing him mum.... I think it's her funeral today? A sad loss - only 40. His sexual proclivity doesn't bother me in the least - but it's quite refreshing to see a well known designers sex life spattered all over the papers (although no doubt, the wolves will be out for lurid stories now that he's gone...?)

There must have been more to it for a man, with all the trappings of success, to commit suicide.......death of his mum, maybe depression, getting over a break up?, financial problems maybe?.....it is such a shame, as 40 is no age at all........ and what an awful waste of life.

As you mention, the vultures will feed on speculation, when leaving him be is the decent thing to do..........but that does'nt sell newspapers unfortunately, does it?

I am not sure the just being successful can make you happy Yogi. I had understood the death of Isabella Blow by suicide in 2007 had a profound effect on him - then with his mother dying perhaps it was just too much. The sad thing with many suicides we shall never know.

Whoever it is who decides to end their life, I can't help thinking that it is so sad that someone has been in such a desperate situation they just want to end it all.

I only realised last night that his real name was Lee Alexander McQueen. Lee McQueen - isn't that also the name of the bloked that won The Apprentice a couple of years ago - the one that lied on his CV and did an awful embarrassing impression of an albatross?

Given that his Aunt,who he loved deeply,died a year ago.
Then he split from his partner.
Then his beloved Mother dies.
It obviously just got too much for him.
It's deeply sad,but it happens.
There are many more of these suicides than people realise,it's just that htose don't get in the papers.
If aanything good can be said to come of this it's that (as here) it's gets people talking & asking about resons.

BTW Sqad,
I realise that you dont like gays,but my Grandson is gay,and he certainly doesn't " mince".
It is sad when someone who appears to be so well educated as you,has such bigoted & stereotypical views, what a waste of an education.
