Movies I download have an array of formats which I don't begin to understand.
I copy the movie to dvd disk but when I try to watch it on my television via my dvd player I get an "unknown disk" sign on my television.
My DVD player supports PAL and NTFC whatever that means and most of the movie files seem to be AVI or MPEG formats. How do I convert these to play on my DVD player and television?
Idiots guide please and thank you in advance

Most of the files will be avi/divx/xvid, therefore you need avi to dvd converter.
Contrary to what others on here may say, you will not find free versions of this software.
If you google you will find many purpoting to be free, but they are trial versions, some leave a watermark through the movie, others just convert half the file.
The best way would be to buy a cheap xvid player, then you just burn the file as data and it will play ok. This way you can fit a few movies onto one dvd disc.
