When was it the best?
Everhelpful, with a response like that you should try living up to your name. BBCTV is still the best. The thing is its now the best of a very poor bunch
You'll see it's the best if you look at the rest.
Best of a bad lot, as others have said.
I still think they do best on the nature programmes and documentaries. Series like David Attenborough's are the best in the world. BBC Bristol puts out excellent stuff. Things they do with the Open University (e.g. Coast, and historical documentaries) and really good.
There was an easy way to find out if the BBC is the best.

When analogue was switched off and went digital only, the opportunity was there for the government to dispense with the licence fee and the BBC could become an encrypted, subscription-only service.

No-one would then be forced to fund them unless they want to use their service, just like Sky. If the Beeb is such good value then they had nothing to fear from going down this route.
Still like BBC the best, watching BBC2 quite a bit more too, like their documentaries.
Mark Byford, 51, the deputy director general, is to receive a pension of at least £229,500 a year from a pot valued at almost £8m. This could rise to more than £10m if he works at the BBC until the age of 60.

Alan Yentob, 62, the arts presenter and creative director of the BBC, has accumulated a pension worth £6.3m, giving an annual retirement income of £216,667 for the rest of his life, according to new research.

Until now it was thought that Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England, had Britain’s largest public sector pension. His pension pot is valued at £5.7m, paying a retirement income of £198,613 a year.
I think the BBC is still good but im not sure it is as good as it was years ago. I dont like the way it copies the American style formats that it has adopted recently by showing us what is coming up in a programme thats just about to start, that is pointless in my opinion and rather annoying!
I do as others have mentioned that it is still streets ahead when it comes to making documentaries. I do wish they would calm down a bit with period costume drama's though !
