neighbours from hell means im now on antidepressants,
hi
is there any way the rental co i lease my flat with can force me to keep my contract going when we are suffering at the hands of neighbours from hell in the flat above us... they have come downstairs and threatened us, they leave rude notes on our car and they rev their car for 15 mins in the morning 6.30am
as well as many other issues.
this has now left me on anti depressents as i am disabled and stuck at home in the middle of what feels like a war zone.
they own their property and therefore my rental co cannot do anything and the local council are not interested in helping.
is there anyway i can get released from my contract as i cant take any more i am moving out and for the next 5 months will have to pay 2 lots of rent!!!
all advice greatly recieved

Happily he was a little chap and my DH while a peaceable man is built like a rugby player, as are many of his friends. It only took one friendly conversation to nip the noise in the bud but I do sympathise. Might the local council be more interested if you mentioned involving the police? I am assuming that you have proof of the threats? and have kept the rude notes and you can prove they wrote them? Your local Citizens Advice Bureau might be able to help you sort this as they will know local methods and contacts. In law renters do have a right to "peaceful enjoyment of the property"but the remedy is usually against the noisemakers and not the landlord.
If you do go this route, it won't help with the landlord, I am afraid and if he knows upstairs are hellions, he's going to want to hang on to your cash as he might not let again so easily. basically cut and trun might be the least stressful, it depends how much of a fight you want

Just so I can understand a little more about this. Has it always been like this? was there some incident that started it? did you upset them in some way? Have you had any attempt at reasoning? People do not usually go out of their way to annoy others it happens out of retaliation for some percieved slight or they have no idea that their actions are annoying. Complaint about the latter can often induce the former.
