Can anyone tell me where I can buy a DVD (Region 2) of Shadowlands? I live in Sweden and usually order from Amazon.co.uk (delivery usually takes 2-4 days). Shadowlands (Region 2) is not available there and I've checked a number of DVD websites and they say this DVD has been withdrawn or deleted from UK. Any ideas what this means? I will be in Scotland next week (16-23 Jan) and thought I may be able to buy it then.

On the internet, try DVD Source, and DVD.CO.UK. Great site to use in future is DVD PRICECHECK. hope this helps!

Thanks mikeydee. I tried these links but no success with the DVD. DVD Source has another DVD called "Shadowlands" but not the film with Anthony Hopkins. The one on DVD Source is a BBC production of the same story.

I'm really starting to think that this DVD hasn't been released for Region 2 or that therehas been some problem with that has caused it to be withdrawn. Hmm .... strange!

I can't speak for this particular title but I work an an industry that supplies DVD's and Videos. They are quite often 'deleted' i.e no longer produced.

Depends on the film, the film company that made it etc.  Some films that you would expect to be available are often deleted not that long after release.

Send It may be able to track a copy down: http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7000000055456 , but it may be easier to hack your player or buy a multi-region player.
I live in the UK and I don't know if it is any help to you, but Sky Movies 1 are screening it at 5.45pm on Friday 21st Jan

Thanks so much for all the replies. I've seen Shadowlands before on TV here and was going to use the film for a small discussion group at the church where I work here in Sweden.

I won't be able to watch it when I'm in the UK as I'm over to visit my Mum who's beginning a course of chemotherapy. She doesn't have Sky.

Another thing, although I don't mind hacking my own DVD player, I'm a bit afraid to do that to the church one. Never know who could be watching :)

If it's any help, the BBC version of Shadowlands (with Joss Ackland) was absolutely superb.  I was involved in another thread about Shadowlands, and someone commented at the time that the BBC version was far superior to the Anthony Hopkins one.  I haven't seen the Anthony Hopkins one, so can't comment!  Anyway, the reason for this blurb is that if you are able to get the BBC version and the reason for your church discussion is the life and/or moral questions facing CS Lewis (rather than anything peculiar to the Anthony Hopkins version of the film), then I'd go for the BBC one...

Thanks ChocClare. I might just do that. Before I had read your posting I had started to look at reviews on both the films and noticed that the BBC version with Joss Ackland looked excellent as it has more on CS Lewis's views, faith, beliefs etc which the other version lacks. My husband remarked that Joss Ackland even looks more like CS Lewis.
I preferred the BBC version too, so it might be worth a punt!
