This will download the programme you want after which you can burn it to dvd or put it on a memory stick. It's not HD but is fine on a normal monitor or tv screen (i.e. not a 40 inch monster). The files wont delete themselves after a set time like they would if you downloaded straight from iPlayer.
As an aside, can someone tell me why it was ok for most of the population to have VHS video recorders attached to their TVs and to be recording programmes whenever they wanted and it was considered ok, whereas now everyone quotes copyright, DRM etc etc simply because we've gone digital?

It never was OK to copy copyright material but it was impossible to police. It was allowed to continue because it was time consuming and difficult to make extra copies. As technology improved the ability to reproduce copies increased to the extent that now anyone with a computer can do at speed. It is often said that DRM is restrictive. In fact it is less so on CD's and MP3/4 music. For instance there is no right to copy a CD or Vinyl (Perhaps 1 not for use copy for backup perhaps) iTunes allowed 5 for use copies on other computers for purchased MP3/4 downloads, I believe Amazon is similar
