End of The World Film??

This is a long question, so please bear with me.

Does anyone know this film.  I remember watching it in the middle of the night, probably BBC2 back in the early 90's.  It was about three people that were just dying as the world was ending. So instead they survived!!  One was being killed by his friend in a forest, one was electrocuted by her hairdryer and I can't remember the other one.

Anyway, they all search across America looking for survivors and find each other.

Does anyone remember this film.  Soz for the strange question.

The Quiet Earth was out on video years ago, I don't know if it is on DVD.

I think it is set in Australia rather than America
