Chris Moyles

Chris Moyles let rip on his Radio 1 show yesterday about the fact he had not been paid by the BBC since july. Was he right do air his problems in public or should he have kept it a private matter?
My view is that whilst it is wrong any company does not pay an employee on time, someone in his position should know better than to tell all about it. I would think a vast majority of Chris's listeners are people earning not much above minimum wage, if they even have a job at all and we all have our own problems so we do not need someone who earns reportedly over 600k a year trying to make us feel sorry for him.

I think it was fine for Chris to rant about it live on air. He's going through abit of a hard time at the moment also.
I would understand if they had not paid him for one month but for two months not being paid is not on at all - He has bills to pay also.
Oh, and I am sure he took a massive pay cut a while back down to 400K or something similar to that figure.

We all have problems though don't we and of course going through a relationship break up is terribly hard, it's so unproffesional to mouth off to the whole nation. And yes of course he has bills to pay but so does everyone else and for those who haven't been able to find work for months could take this as a massive kick in the teeth. Even though he has taken a large pay cut in relation to his previous BBC salary to 400k, he's hardly going to be struggling is he. Never mind the proceeds he receives from his other ventures. I just feel it was incensative.
muchlovex - what is there to laugh about in this situation? Or do you mean if I don't find Chris Moyles funny I don't have a sense of humour?
It is a basic case of whiny-over-paid "sleb" being more unprofessional than normal. Chris Moyles offers absolutely nothing.
The stuff about breaking up with his partner, much like his pay, is mostly a private matter.
All the best,
Spare Ed

I heard Chris Moyles' rant, and from my perception, his issue was with the apparently cavalier attitude of the BBC Salaries Department to his queries, rather than whether or not he can afford to stand out of the money.
As a well-paid presenter, hs sees the attitude as one of courtesy and respect, rather than of financial hardship - that was the central plank of his tirade.
I think this was the result of his break-up with his long-term partner, and although i would agreee that this is not the platform to relieve his feelings, it is pretty human to simply be caught 'in the moment' at the wrong time and place.
The BBC regard the issue as closed - and at least it has jogged the appropriate department into action!

He always talks about his peronal life on air, albeit usually in a light hearted way and people who listen to him regularly know this, if they don't like it they shouldn't listen to him. Also; completely agree with what he said himself in response to the whole thing that just because he earns a lot of money compared to some people doesn't make it alright for him not to be paid. Plumbers get paid a lot but you wouldn't expect them to do the work if you weren't paying them for it!
