I vaguely remember Joan but in that clip I remember the husband more, he was always in these American gangster films, dunno his name,
If we're going that far back d'ya remember Chic Murrey & Maidy? Scottish standup comedian (husband & wife team) she died quite young but he went on on his own. He was a funny bloke. In fact when he died in 1985 Billy Connelly was one of his pall-barers.

A bit of web searching shows that 'Hey Jeannie' was a CBS production (running from 1956 to '57):

In the USA the title was 'The Jeannie Carson Show':

Jeannie Carson wasn't actually Scottish. Her real name was Jean Shufflebottom, from Pudsey in Yorkshire:

PS: As I child I thought 'I Love Lucy' was wonderful but I've seen clips from it in recent years and the humour definitely hasn't lasted. However I can still watch 'The Phil Silvers Show' (to use the US title for 'Sgt Bilko') with as much, if not more, pleasure than when I first saw it.

Thanks for that post, Mike.
It's good to know that Phil Silvers could still be a star outside of his 'Bilko' character. I've often wondered, since (despite being paid nearly as much as the rest of the cast put together), his performance in 'Carry on Follow That Camel' added nothing to the quality of an already poor movie.

'Fraid I have to disagree with you on that one, Chris. Whilst the "Carry On" films vary wildy in quality, I must say that my favourite three are, "Up the Khyber", "Don't Lose Your Head", and "Follow that Camel". It is the wealth of punning and innuendo (quite daring at the time) which make them for me.
